HOW TO GET THE PILGRIM'S CREDENTIAL
The credential is the document that identifies the pilgrim as such. Your presentation is essential to stay in a public hostel. You should be sealing it every day. Upon arrival at the Pilgrim's Office in Santiago de Compostela, you must present the credential, which will be the supporting document for having completed the Camino de Santiago and being a creditor of Compostela. Doing the Camino de Santiago is a personal commitment. The hospitality of the towns and the commitment of many people and Jacobean associations will offer you the traditional welcome of the Camino de Santiago, always trying to give preference to those most in need. For this reason, remember: -The pilgrim does not demand, accepts what is offered and appreciates it. -Hospitalist volunteers work altruistically in the shelters. Collaborate with them, help their maintenance in whatever way you can and comply with the standards established in each hostel. Respect and you will be respected. WHERE TO GET THE CREDENTIAL. Our Association has Credentials for those pilgrims who make the Winter Trail and come or call our registered office. It can also be obtained in Santiago de Compostela, the Pilgrim's Office. It is also normally facilitated by most of the Amigos del Camino Associations. In Madrid it is obtained in the Church of Santiago, near the Plaza Mayor. Hostels that also provide the credential (the list is not exhaustive): Roncesvalles, Larrasoaña, Pamplona (also on the university campus), Estella, Logrono, Santo Domingo (also in the Santo brotherhood), Burgos, León (in the municipal hostel ), Astorga (in the municipal hostel), Ponferrada (hostel, La Encina parish and the Association of Friends of the Camino por el Bierzo), Molinaseca (in the Alfredo hostel), Villafranca del Bierzo, O Cebreiro, Sarria.

THE COMPOSTELA

THE DISTANCE CERTIFICATE Since last March 2014, upon receiving the Compostela, the Distance Certificate can be acquired This certificate responds to the desire that many pilgrims expressed to us so that more data of their pilgrimage would be recorded. The new distance certificate shows the day and starting point of the pilgrimage, the kilometers traveled, as well as the day of arrival and the route on which the pilgrimage was made. This Distance Certificate costs € 3, is somewhat larger than the Compostela and is printed on parchment paper. The welcome to the pilgrim and the delivery of the Compostela are completely free, so the sale of these certificates will help to continue making this service to the pilgrimage from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

Given the constant problems and doubts that the new waymarking of the Camino is raising among pilgrims, we recall the following: The Signage Manual of the Xunta de Galicia establishes the yellow scallop as a graphic reference of the Camino de Santiago and contemplates its application on a blue background. Both are the colors of Europe. In any case, its orientation will be to the right, preventing its adaptation to other orientations. In other words, THE VIEIRA WILL ALWAYS BE FACED TO THE RIGHT. The scallop is a mere symbol that does not indicate any direction, it only indicates that we are on the Camino de Santiago. Likewise, the YELLOW ARROW is incorporated as an indicator of the direction of the path, coexisting with the scallop symbol. In short: YOU HAVE TO BE GUIDED BY THE YELLOW ARROWS, NOT BY THE ORIENTATION OF THE VIEIRA.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PILGRIMS ABOUT FOOT CARE. Due to the high heat that the pilgrims of the Winter Trail are suffering these months, numerous foot injuries have been observed, especially blisters. In many cases this is due to improper use of the COMPEED product. It should not be used when the ampoule already has liquid, it should only be used when the ampoule begins to form, that is, when the skin has a reddened area, but there is still no liquid. In this case COMPEED is a good protection. Another precaution to be taken by those pilgrims whose feet have high sweating is to frequently use suitable products sold in pharmacies, such as certain powders or also specific sprays. High perspiration on the feet if not changed ends up causing blisters. Remember, pilgrim: the badly cured blister means to tread badly. And stomping causes tendinitis. And tendinitis is equivalent to having to leave the Camino.
