Stage 10. Outeiro-Santiago
STAGE 10 OUTEIRO-SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA (CATEDRAL) From the Outeiro hostel to the first town, Rubial, there are 4.4 km, almost all by dirt track -except for a small stretch of road- and between abundant groves of eucalyptus and pine trees. Walking another 3.4 km, also on dirt tracks we reach A Susana. Here you have to cross the national highway and, as it is a road junction, you have to do it very carefully, it is a dangerous point. From A Susana you have to cross under the N-525 to the Marrozos area, and then you have to make another railroad crossing, also lower. From here we will always go along dirt tracks of land consolidation, with isolated houses everywhere, to the hermitage of Santa Lucía. We cross the river that follows the hermitage, we go up the Piñeiro royal road, we pass under the AP-9 motorway and the railway. We are in the Angrois area. We continue until we reach the Sar neighborhood along the Sar road and the Sar road, going down to the river of the same name. We are almost in the middle of the city of Santiago. We go up through Castrondouro and we already find the Mazarelos arch, the only one of the seven gates of the wall of Santiago that is preserved. From here to the Cathedral there is no more than five minutes.
