Stage 8. Rodeiro-A Laxe
STAGE 8 RODEIRO-A LAXE (LALIN) We leave Rodeiro on PO-533, leaving the City Hall building on our right, the former tower of the Camba family. Later, and also to the right, we will find a gas station and an industrial estate. We passed the Hospital bridge over the Arnego river and left a rabbit slaughterhouse on our left (we will notice it by its smell). We have 2.5 km traveled. A detour to the right takes us off the road along a paved track that soon becomes a dirt road. We are walking to the left of the Arnego river. We passed two bridges and reached Penerbosa. We continue on a paved track to Puza and from here on a dirt road we go down again to the Arnego river. We crossed it and by paved track we reached the small village of A Penela. A small section of road, then a road and in 1.7 km we reach Eirexe, where we will find a crossroads. We continue by road to the Puente Pedroso, from the 12th century, which crosses the everlasting Arnego River. From here, at first by road and then by road, we will find a milestone at 2.8 km that indicates the end of the municipality of Rodeiro. We continue on the dirt road. We passed through Palmaz and arrived at Lalín de Arriba. Now by road, PO-553, we are descending. We find a fountain on our left and shortly after a detour to the same hand we took. This detour leads us to a small square where we find a church, a crossroads and an old pazo. A few hundred meters more, on a downhill route, and we are already in Lalín. We leave the church of Lalín on our right. We are going down. We pass the pig monument (Lalín is the capital of the stew) and arrive at the river walk of the Pontiñas river. It is an extremely pleasant stretch. We go through it until we reach exit 525. We go up the N-525 road, continuing along it a few hundred meters because soon we will be on the detour that takes us to the Lalin 2000 Industrial Estate. We cross this entire industrial estate until the end, where there are a couple of roundabouts. The path is perfectly signposted at this point, which leads us parallel to the AP-53 motorway for about 300 m. We pass under the highway in an underpass marked with a yellow arrow, we turn left after and in 100 m we are at the A Laxe hostel.
HOSTELS AND ACCOMMODATIONS ALBERGUE DE A LAXE It is a hostel with 8 years old, in an acceptable state of conservation. It opens at 1pm and closes at 10pm. The price is 8 euros. It has 28 places in bunk beds, distributed in two rooms. It also has a room for the disabled. It has hot water, a very large kitchen, living and reading rooms, an outdoor clothesline, a laundry room, a soft drink machine and a coffee and pastry machine. On the road there is a bar that gives meals; You can also go to the nearby industrial estate, where bars and inns abound; It is also possible to order food from the “Onde Antonio” inn, which will bring it to the hostel itself for 9 euros on the menu, provided there are a minimum of three petitioners.
